You can get any questions about how to use Laura Mercier products from their website. This is straight from the website:

' Secret Camouflage Application for Face:
Pick up the product with the Secret Camouflage Brush by dragging across both pans, saturating both sides of the brush
Using the back of your hand as a palette, use the brush to warm & mix the two colours until you find the shade that matches your skin tone
Secret Camouflage is a true "makeup artist's" formula so the more you work with the product the more easily you will be able to achieve perfect results
Wipe off the excess product on a clean area of your hand to de-saturate the brush and using feather-light strokes, apply Secret Camouflage to the darkened areas of the face - blemishes, shadows, scars, capillaries, the area around the nose, shadows under the bottom lip and any imperfections that the foundation does not cover
After application, "pat" the product lightly with your fingertips and set with Translucent Loose Setting Powder using the Camouflage Powder Brush
Using translucent powder sets the product for all day wear.

Secret Camouflage Application for Under Eye Area:
Apply to shadows under and on the outside corner of the eyes
Use the fingertip to gently pat and blend all areas of application and set with Translucent Loose Setting Powder using the Camouflage Powder Brush
Do not use a pigmented powder to set Secret Camouflage as it will cause you to look "tired" underneath the eyes and will cause the areas of application to stand out on the face. '

I am laura mercier certified, so i have the answer:

the proper way to use this product is by taking a concealer brush and get one color on one side of the brush, flip the brush over and get the OTHER color on the OTHER side of the brush. Then you take your brush and blend the two colors on the back of your hand. Once the two colors are completely mixed, apply product where needed.

Once you become more comfortable with the product, you can adjust how much of each color you need. (for example, maybe more of the pink undertone vs the yellow undertone shade)

This product is BEST used for all over the face except for the eye area. Use the secret concealer for the eye area.

I got this advice from kandee johnson of YouTube fame (kandeejohnson is her channel. Basically, she uses the "light" color (for SC-1 this is on the right, but think it may be on the left for the other colors) for undereye, eyelid, etc. Then she uses the "darker" color (on the left with SC-1) for pimple coverup and general concealing. Nobody's face is 1 color, so you use the two shades as needed for canceling out dark circles (with the light) and blemishes (with the dark). Hope this helps.

you need to use before the light color, under your eyes and a little bit under your eyebrow as highlighter. Then under the eyes you can use the dark color to adjust the color on your skin.

Am I the only one who's having a hard time using this concealer? I've tried warming them up with my fingers and the back of my hand but it's so fast drying that when I'm about to put it on my face it already dried up. Please help me!

It is weird to put on.

When I asked the MUA what shade I was she used a white sponge to apply it.

I rubbed my finger on the concealer in its compact then applied it directly to my face and that worked the best, especially on dryer areas on my face.

Some areas on my face (less dry places) I rubbed my concealer brush on the concealer in its compacts then applied it to my face.

A sales associate first applied it on me with Sephora's concealer airbrush and that's what I've been doing ever since. The product seems a little dry if you try to use your fingers but the brush really does the trick.

I personally don't used tinted mosturizer, but I've watched a YouTube video where a women had tinted mosturizer on and she then applied the Secret Camouflage concealer over that and her skin looked great.

You could try applying the concealer before the mosturizer too.

I use my concealer with a sheer tinted moisturizer. I use the tinted moisturizer and then put the concealer over it and recommend matifying your face with a light powder because I find the dewy complexion with a matt under eye looks weird.

This product is NOT made to be used under the eye area. There is no oil in it at all, therefore, it is not emollient enough for the under eye area. It has excellent coverage but will show every single little line under the eye. It was not designed to be used under the eye. It is a face concealer. Anywhere else on the face. And it works super well on the face because of the fact that it doesn't have oil in it. It stays put. Laura Mercier does carry an under eye concealer called Secret Concealer. It has the perfect consistency for under the eye.

yes I only use this to cover under my eyes! but I would recommend that you warm it with your fingers and apply it using your ring finger (you have a lighter touch) because I just don't think this concealer works well with a brush.

This stuff is like cement! It stays in place and does not melt, crease or smudge. It's a bit tricky to work with at first, but always warm it up on the back of your hand first to make sure the product blends well! (beauty 101) :)

I have acne, and I bought this specifically to hide it. This actually works wonders because it doesn't budge even on extremely oily skin, and you can customize the shade depending on if the blemish is new or healing. It doesn't settle into any cracks or dry skin that results from acne treatment, and it doesn't irritate existing blemishes or cause new blemishes. This doesn't advertise as being oil free, but it does not clog pores.

I have acne prone skin & haven't encountered any problems/issues using this product. It doesn't specify whether it is oil free, but I have not noticed it creating excess oil on my face after application. As for applying the camouflage, I use the Secret Camouflage brush. It is very easy to apply using the brush because it allows you to be very precise, filling in areas that you might not be able to get using your fingers. Plus, it is not the best idea to use your hands/fingers to apply make-up because of the transfer of germs/bacteria to your face, especially if you're acne prone.

Question
Is it yellow-ey, and how do I use it?
I have fair skin with some freckles, and blue eyes. I am half-Chinese, half European-mixed so I'm pretty unsure of my undertones-- sometimes they seem to be more golden but other times they seem more pink-- plus I think fair people are supposed to have pink undertones but I am mixed and wouldn't be surprised if I had different undertones, since my eyes are also mixed colors (blue/green/grey). But if it helps, when I look at the veins on my wrist, they are blue.
My friend told me about this product. She said she loves it, but when I saw hers, it looked so yellow-ey! It kind of scared me. While it works great on her, I'm nervous to invest in this product in case it turns out really yellow on me. Plus, my skin tone is kind of weird, because I'm fair, but not ghostly, so sometimes the lightest colors are too light on me, and sometimes--usually-- the next darkest color is too dark.
I really like the idea of this because it seems nice to be able to customize your color, and everyone I know who uses this LOVES it. A lot.
So, can you tell me if the lightest version of this is actually yellow-ey, and how do I use it? I don't really break out that much but I would use it for the occasional breakout and blemishes, and definitely for dark circles under my eyes, but that's about it. I don't wear foundation, just moisturizer for sunscreen and a little concealer.
Thanks!

Everything appears yellowy on my skin! But SC1 is not yellowy at all. One shade is a light neutral beige, and the other side is practically colorless. This is a good alternative if your skin tans or if you want a multi function concealer that will work on dark circles, birthmarks, and blemishes. If your skin tone seems to change, having two shade options should work to your benefit. The shades blend super easily, and you can make the right combination fairly quickly. Once you start to apply the product you'll see immediately whether you need to add more of the lighter or darker shade.

I have a whole drawer full of cover-up make-up trying to find the perfect one. This one may be a little off on the color pallete for you, but if you use an eye brush (one that is flat) and blend, blend, blend I think you will be happy. Sometimes I mix this one with another one to achieve the coverage I need. Good luck. The make-up from Laura Mercier is great for under your eyes, too. . .use it to enhance your beauty, not cover it !!!

Question
Dark Circles
I have had dark circles most of my adult life and nothing seems to really do a great job of covering them up. I am interested in maybe purchasing the Secret Camouflage and Yves Saint Laurent TOUCHE ÉCLAT
Radiant Touch - 3 Light Peach #1120799. I have a natural warm complexion year-round. Would these products be good together? What do you recommend? Also if I buy these do I need a new powder? I really wear natural make-up and never foundation. Any info would be great! Thanks!

You could use both -- use the Secret Camoflague to hit the inner corner of the eye area where it's darkest, then use the Touche Eclat in the area where the cheekbone meets the undereye area - the highlight there will draw more attention to your cheekbone and away from the dark circles. Experiment!

I only started having dark under eye circles when I had children (apparently getting up several times a night does that to a gal!). I find that the secret camoflauge works GREAT at covering under eye circles (as well as brown spots and pimples) without looking cakey. My new routine includes LM tinted moisterizer, the secret camoflauge as needed and then her pressed powder to set it all. I think my skin looks better than it has in a while...

I own both these product and love my camouflage but it is more for medium to heavy foundation coverage, if you do not tend to wear much foundation the Yves Touche Eclat is much lighter and will do the same just is smoother and light. you might also want to try an eye brightener for the dark circles in conjunction with the Touche Eclat instead of the camouflage.

It sounds like my skin tone may be similar to yours. Every face product I purchase I need in either the lightest color available or neutral, if possible; otherwise, my skin looks yellowish or orangish. If your skin is that fair, definitely stay with SC1. The darker shade on SC1 has a very neutral color to it with absolutely no yellow tones. The lighter shade is almost colorless, which I find invaluable because it allows me to dilute the color without sacrificing coverage or texture. Both shades are the same consistency, so you really can combine them to choice depending on where you're applying them. For hiding blemishes, I use the darker shade straight; for lightening under eye circles or birthmarks, I go heaver on the lighter shade.

I'd say you should get the #2 or #3 shade to not see much yellow. I use the #3 and if I blend correctly, I don't see any yellow. You can always use the peach-tone to blend out any yellow.

I use the SC-3. I have olive undertones with medium light skin in the winter. I think the SC-3 would defenitely make your skin look yellow, but there are two lighter shades available. I also think this is a well made product and worth trying. Its best attribute in my opnion is that it can be worn alone. With that being said, you would want to get the shade that matches you best. Since it comes with two colors, that shouldnt be hard to do.
