Questions & Answers for Laura Mercier Lip Glacé

Question
Long Lasting?
I know that three people tagged this product as being "long lasting" but I'd like more opinions as to how long this product lasts. How often have other users had to reapply? Thanks!

I reapply about every hour, but, yes, it's pretty long lasting. It's very dry here in Colorado.

I apply it before work and assuming that I don't eat, it will last for about 3 hours. I have worn this through my gym class and still have a hint of sparkle on my lips even through the sweat.

It's really up to you. Don't eat or drink and it should last several hours. All gloss really sits up on the surface of the skin, doesn't stain the lips so if you rub it off, it's gone.

I wouldn't say it's longlasting. It's a lipgloss. It's definitely a nice product. Most of Laura Mercier's products are very good. Hope this helps.

I'm really surprised to hear that some feel it's long lasting! My only complaint is that it wears off just as quickly as some brands that are less money. If I've just applied, and then drink a coffee, I would definitely need to reapply.

Hi!
I'm one of those who marked long-lasting :)
At that time my review was on ~Brownberry~
This shade of gloss would last a 2-4 hours. Even after eating I still had some left on. Brownberry really does last and it's a lovely color.
My 2nd Lip Glace ~Gala ~ has been discontinued...
It's a Holiday Red, Gorgeous. Seems to have lasted even longer than Brownberry did; at 3-5 hours (depending on what I was doing)

The reason I've explained both shades of LM Lip Glace is because after reading the ingredients;
I noticed "each'' Lip Glace is made differently. So I'm not sure about the lasting power in the other shades.
Tomorrow 12/03/09, I will be receiving ~Ambre Rose~ (a bronze red quartz sheen)
I'll make sure to follow-up with that Lip Glace & it's lasting power for you!

I hope I've helped! Hopefully others will notice your question and have answers about the other shades.

Question
How does this product compare with NARS lip gloss?
If anyone has tried both, which is less sticky, less glossy (shiny) and longer lasting? I'm looking for a lip gloss that is long-lasting, but isn't sticky or too glossy.

I enjoy both glosses but I think that the NARS glosses are a lot more sticky. The Laura Mercier sheers out whereas the NARS is more pigmented.

I prefer Laura Mercier or Dior to Nars. I find Nars a little too sticky, but the colors for Nars are a little more saturated. Dior makes the best in my opinion, but you can't beat Laura Mercier for sheer colors. Just don't get the lip plumbing kind as its awful.

I've tried both and find the Nars too drying. While I love Laura Mercier's Lip Glaces, not the longest lasting but very comfortable to wear. Another brand (gloss) that I like is Smashbox. Perhaps a bit longer wearing than the Mercier Lip Glace but not drying like Nars.

First of all, it smells WAY better than NARS glosses do, and tastes better. Like vanilla. Whereas NARS glosses taste/smell like chemicals/plastic. That's not to say that they're not quality glosses, but the lip glace stands up very well in comparison, I think. They're just as smooth, easy to wear and last as long in my experience- both glosses are only slightly tacky, just enough to keep them clinging to your lips for a while. NARS does have a wider selection of non-shimmery shades and more exciting colors, plus there's more product, but if you are looking for a nice low-key shade, care about the scent/taste of your gloss, and want a high quality product, I think you'd like this.

Hi!
I hope this doesn't show up twice! If it does,
I'm sorry...I just wanted to get this answer to you!

I've been looking for ~Gala~ too. That ''was'' such a beautiful Lip Glace.
After seeing that you'd asked about this a few times...I did a search;
LM's ~Gala~ has been discontinued :(
I went to their site and found they do still have ~Scarlet~ in...(close & real pretty)
Brownberry is very Lovely too~
But still not the same as ~Gala~
Guess where I found the Gala shade... ebay
I had to buy one!!!
So I know there are a few more out there.

I really hope I've helped! I think they'll bring it back...

No, it's not too orange. It's actually a perfect shade for tanned skin.

So this color is more of a coral than anything, and it leans more to the pink side than coral when actually applied. It looks brighter in the "tube" and in the swatch but it goes on pretty sheer. I have a medium skin tone and my lips are a "pink" shade so this gloss is perfect because it adds just a little more color to my natural skin tone. hope that helps a little!

If I remember correctly, After Hours is the coral shown in the product picture. Try Meringue of Gilded Rose. The same thing happened to me when I fell in love with Platinum and they stopped making it....now I'm using pink diamond instead and it's a tragedy.

Petal is still available on lauramercier.com. I just bought it last week. It is a pinkish golden shimmer, unlike any of the other colors.

NO, I purchased Ambre Rose in hopes that it would be similar to Bronze Glitz, but it didn't work. Ambre Rose is lighter and didn't have the copper tone & shine that made Bronze Glitz so lovely. Sure wish LM would bring it back -- it was an absolute winner!!

I think the two shades are very similar. I recently purchased the Ambre Rose and like it; however I would say that it is maybe a a bit lighter that the Bronze Glitz, which I also loved! This is the closest shade I have found and am happy with it. Hope this helps a little....
