Pro Natural Smudge Brush #11

Pro Natural Smudge Brush #11

What it is:A brush that applies, builds, and blends eye makeup to create a range of looks with professional results. What it does: This brush smudges and diffuses color with absolute precision, allowing you to create unlimited effects, from classic shadow looks and runway trends to the perfect smoky eye. The brush head's densely packed bristles pick up the perfect amount of pigment. Its flat, rounded shape rests perfectly on the lash line and crease, a style of brush perfect for blending or "smoking out" shadow, eyeliner, cream liner, or eye pencil. As makeup artists are known for saying, "The smoky eye is your friend, when you blend." What else you need to know: The super soft natural goat hair bristles are the highest quality on the market: they feel soft and smooth against your skin, making this brush a joy to work with. The handle is dipped in silver lacquer several times, preventing chips or dents. With proper use, this quality brush will last for years.

Questions & Answers for SEPHORA COLLECTION Pro Natural Smudge Brush #11

Question
Sephora Collection Makeup Brushes
What are the hair of the Sephora Collection Makeup Brushes made of? Are they synthetic? I am interested in smudge brush for a gel liner (Item # 1243989, Item # 1014281 or Item # 832436) but prefer a brush that's gentle on the eye area. Which one do you recommend?

I don't know about a natural or synthetic hair brush for gel liner....but Too Faced makes an eyeliner with a rubber tool on one end that I have used for my creamy and liquid eyeliners! (I bought Perfectly Black Orchid, a great black-purple)

It does a lovely job with eye shadow but I have not tried working with gel liner and this brush. Usually I have used a pointed tipped brush.

Pretty sure Sephora's Pro Natural line of brushes are all natural hair of some sort or another. I remember the guy who worked with me last in a store said that the fan brush is raccoon :)
And of course, no animals are harmed in the making

I'm sure this would work great. It's a great little brush. I bought it to smudge my eyeliner and it works for that, so sure it would work for you also. It was made for blending.

I wouldn't necessarily use this brush to blend a shadow towards your eyebrow bone. The brushes bristles are pretty narrow and work great for smudging lines. I would use a crease brush to help blend the shadow towards your eyebrow bone.

Question
Professional platinum vs. professional?
Sephora has the Professional series brushes with black handles and the professional platinum series with silver handles. What is the difference between these two lines of brushes? At $20 vs. $13 I wonder if there is any difference other than the material the handles are made out of?

I find that there is just a slight difference in the bristles between these smudge brushes. The bristles are softer in the black-handled brush, and a little more stiff in the silver professional platinum natural brush. The difference is very subtle - though I am partial to the stiffer brushes - they are easier to blend with for me. So, if you are looking to save money, go with the black-handled brush; but if you are worried about the slight difference in quality of bristles (with the silver-handled ones being better, in my opinion), then go with the silver-handled brush. Hope that helps!

The one I purchased and did not like had silver handles. My Sephora professional "ergonomic" brushes have black handles and I like them much better. However, I don't know if smudge brushes and liner brushes are available in the ergonomic series.

I don't know if the bristles are natural or synthetic. I actually think it may be a combination, but I can't say for sure.

Total length is 6" including bristles. The bristles are a quarter inch at the longest (they are trimmed into a dome shape). The width is 3/8 inch. The bristles are stiff and dense.
