I believe all of the different strenghts of this scent are just stronger or weaker, but have the same scent. As the previous answer stated perfume/parfum is the strongest, then Eau de Parfum, then Eau de Toilette. HOWEVER, with some brands, such as Chanel and Annick Goutal, the different strengths are also different interpretations. No. 5 EDT is completely different from the EDP, and the same goes for some of the Annick Goutal scents. Petite Cherie is fabulous as an EDT, but doesn't last. If you get the EDP, though, it wreaks! Smells like BO. So your question was a very good one. Always sample if you can or shop where they have a great return policy -- like Sephora. You can also call Sephora and ask for someone who has knowledge of a particular scent, and ask them what the difference is. Hope this helps you. Good luck!

Yes they are the same scent, only the Eau de Toilette will not last very long.
Whereas the Eau de Parfum has more staying power (hence the increase in price.) It works like this in every fragrance: First you have Parfum, the undiluted concentrate, then the Eau de Parfum, a slightly diluted version, and then the Eau de Toilette which is the cheaper version and doesn't last very long.
