Hanae Mori Hanae Mori Butterfly Eau de Toilette

Hanae Mori, the great lady of Japanese fashion and Parisian haute couture, introduced this fragrance in 1996 and the subtle composition of scents make it unlike any other. The fragrance is a rare blend of berries and flowers, with a distinctive tone of strawberries and almond, giving an impression of vanilla. The bottle's top is distinctly made from glass, a first for any fragrance. The top represents the beauty and delicate shape of a butterfly with folded wings.Notes:Strawberries, Bilberries, Black Currant, Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Sandalwood, Almond, Praline.Style:Spontaneous. Modern. Festive.

Questions & Answers for Hanae Mori Hanae Mori Butterfly Eau de Toilette

Question
Does this smell like Windex?
I've heard that the "opening" scent of the perfume (the first few seconds when you spray) is a very harsh chemical smell. Some women have told me it smells like Windex.

Are the first few seconds really that bad?

Thanks!

Everyone's body chemistry is different, though I don't think this smells like cleaner at all. I would try a sample of it if you're nervous about how it may smell on you, but this gets a 10/10 in my book :)

Question
Product sample request
Hi! I'm interested in trying your Hanae Mori Butterfly perfume. I was hoping you might have a sample I could try before I purchase a bottle. I suffer from severe migraines that are often triggered by scents. From your description I think this scent will be perfect, but I won't know until I try it. If you are able to provide this sample I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks! Karla Kittler

I get headaches from many perfumes also so I have to be very careful. I wore this over several weeks from a sample I received and not a hint of a headache. Another scent to try is Curve. That is what I normally wear and it is very light.

easy answer: perfume = more $, higher quality scent (richer), and lasts longer because you'll need less, and the scent lingers for a longer period of time on the skin.

Perfume is more pure with out or less alcohol. You pay more, but the bottle lasts longer, and the frangrances lingers more. I try to always get perfume if I can afford it.

a Parfum has less water or other ingredients so it is longer lasting than an Eau de Toilette. So you won't need to spray as much and it has a more intense smell

Eau de parfum contains about 7-15% perfume concentrates
Eau de toilette has around 1-6% perfume concentrates

Hi,

The perfumes/parfums are more concentrated, and the eau de toilette actually translate to water of the toilette - technically more watered down, which is why it doesn't cost as much.

Hope this helps.

It depends which you would rather purchase, I had the same question when I visited my local Sephora! The Eau de Toilette is slightly cheaper because it is more like a body spray, while the Eau de Parfum is more expensive because the liquid is thicker, less like a body spray, lasting longer, therefore more expensive. Goodluck!

Question
Hanae Mori paris or Hanae Mori Butterfly?
I received a sample from Sephora in a white bottle with black writing that says Hanae Mori Paris. When looking online to purchase at sephora I only see Hanae Mori Butterfly. I have found another site Frangancenet.com which has Hanae Mori Paris but no Butterfly. Are these fragrances the same or are they two different perfumes. I would like to purchase the same as the sample I received

If I want to smell all-over sweet/nice/floral/whatever, then I spray in front and walk through it. If I am really craving the scent, I spray on one wrist, then pat my other wrist with it, and then pat both my wrists behind my ears. Then if I want a whiff of it, I can smell my wrists, and I know my man can smell it on my neck when he's close by! If I am really feeling perfumey, I use both methods! (But be careful, you don't want to give people a headache!)

Essentially, eau de toilette is a watered down version of the eau de parfum. With hanae mori in particular, there is significant longer wear with the edp, which is why I think the edt is a waste of money.

Hello! If this sample was in a VIB silver clutch within 7-8 samples. ...well, that perfume is called " Hanae Mori, Paris" and that's it. Look it up on the Sephora website and you will see its the only scent there under Hanae Mori from Paris. I too, received that same sample. Fell in love with the scent and ordered the Eue de Parfum 1.7 ounce....love it. For some reason, it doesn't last very long nome, but hey we are all chemically different or maybe I just can't smell it anymore after a while. This is my fav perfume!

Question
Is Hanae Mori cruelty free?
I searched the web up and down and sideways from investor info to PETA and could not find anywhere ANY INFO on their animal testing policies. I realize that this question has been asked before, but there are 2 conflicting answers. I require 3rd party verification (like caringconsumer or IDA), not just someone off the street saying yes or no. So where is that info??? PLEASE post it so I can find it... I got a sample of the perfume and loved it... but refuse to harm animals, no matter how good it smells.

MANY companies will say that their "yada yada perfume" is not tested on animals, when in fact the ingredients actually are! So, they are telling the truth, that "yada yada" isnt used on animals, but in fact the ingedients that make up the entire product are indeed used on animals, so you may want to rephrase your question to be "are any of the ingredients in any form tested on animals including the product as a whole, and each individual, or combined ingredients that are in your product?"

I believe all of the different strenghts of this scent are just stronger or weaker, but have the same scent. As the previous answer stated perfume/parfum is the strongest, then Eau de Parfum, then Eau de Toilette. HOWEVER, with some brands, such as Chanel and Annick Goutal, the different strengths are also different interpretations. No. 5 EDT is completely different from the EDP, and the same goes for some of the Annick Goutal scents. Petite Cherie is fabulous as an EDT, but doesn't last. If you get the EDP, though, it wreaks! Smells like BO. So your question was a very good one. Always sample if you can or shop where they have a great return policy -- like Sephora. You can also call Sephora and ask for someone who has knowledge of a particular scent, and ask them what the difference is. Hope this helps you. Good luck!

Yes they are the same scent, only the Eau de Toilette will not last very long.
Whereas the Eau de Parfum has more staying power (hence the increase in price.) It works like this in every fragrance: First you have Parfum, the undiluted concentrate, then the Eau de Parfum, a slightly diluted version, and then the Eau de Toilette which is the cheaper version and doesn't last very long.
