Questions & Answers for NARS Single Eye Shadow

Question
Shade Advice Challenge : )
I have light blonde hair and light skin. Now the difficult part..my eye color(!!!) the outer ring is blue, then a light green shade, next a golden shade then my pupil. My eyes can show as light clear green. Or they can show up as a blue green. Or they can show up as a golden color. Or also a blue shade. I have tried purples and lilac ( I look dead). Browns and plums I use the most, but I am bored with! Any other idea's? Also I should note I am over 40 years of age..so nothing Too Wild please.

Thank you

To Courney Maret,

Oh My ..we could be twins!! LOL!! Our coloring (eyes, skin and hair sound identical)
Thanks for the help. I agree, at the makeup counter first shade they go for is BROWN! Uggh, enough already!
I also agree with Purple not looking as good as it use to. I have no idea why it doesn't (?) I thought maybe I was just getting tired of wearing the shade.
I have used Nars blushes but, I have never used Nars eyeshadows. What Nars shades in Pink do you like the best (name?)

Thanks
Kim

I've got light blond hair and a pale, yellow/pink complexion (yes, both) with eyes that are dark blue on the outer rim yet greenish blue in the main part of the iris and yellow right next to the pupil. And I've found, especially as I get older (I'm 32) that soft, slightly shimmery pinks are the way to go on the lid. I love Nars for the range of pinks I can find that have some shimmer to make my eyes stand out and bring out the light in them. I use a soft baby pink with flecks of silver on my eyelids and a burgundy in my crease and at outer upper lash line. I dust a bit of mauve in the crease to lid area too on the outermost section of my eye (to sort of wing them up a bit). The range of pinks helps bring out the blue in my eyes and compliments the green and the same time. I've tried orange shades (soft, not wild) thinking that would make the blue of my outer iris pop but I look dead, I wore purple shades when I was younger but as I get older it doesn't look good somehow. I look washed out. I hate, hate, hate browns on my eyes, which is always what make up counter girls reach for when I've had makeovers (they see blue/green eyes and light blonde hair and think brown is the answer - it is not!) Basically everything fails but pinks in the right shades and in the right places. It's not my go-to look and I play with the intensity of color when I want to go from day make up to rich, bold nighttime looks. I finish with the tiniest touch of black liner (mostly to fill in between the lashes since they are a bit light brown and kind of sparse) and black or black/brown mascara. Nars is by far my favorite line of shadows for the wear, rich color, and shimmer added.

I have hazel eyes, and most pinks or browns make me look tired or like I got punched. The Nepal color is just enough pinky-peachy-brown to highlight my eyes without looking made -up, I prefer a natural look - my husband doesn't even notice that I am wearing makeup!

HI THERE, IF YOU HAVE FAIRLY SMALL EYES I WOULD TRY MAKE UP FOREVERS CREAM SHADOW IN AQUA CREAM 13 OR16 AND THEN NARS NIGHT RIDER. I WOULD USE A BLACK EYELINER FOR THE TOP LID AND THEN STILA KAJAL EYELINER IN TOPAZ ON THE INER PART OF YOUR BOTTOM EYE. IT WILL GIVE YOU THE LOOK OF A WIDER EYE AND THE SHADOW WILL MAKE YOUR HAZEL EYES POP!!! GOOD LUCK

Check out the Nars duo eyeshadow in color Habanera. The darker color is a very subtle, charcoal plum with golden shimmer. It does not look "purple" on, but you get the green-eye enhancing effect of purple. It makes your eyes pop without screaming at you. If you like a very very subtle look, try the single eyeshadow in Cairo. It looks taupe-pink in the compact, but the effect is not pink at all. It does bring out the green eyes.

anaa is right! Urban Decay and Lorac have the best eye lid primers I've ever had. Also, Nars has never creased on me, even when I put it on right after putting on my heavy duty dry face cream. It's the best eye shadow I've ever had, besides Lorac, that does not crease, and stays put all day. Hope that helps, along with what anaa said!

Hi have you tried Urban Decay primer for eyes? My lids are oily as well but when I use that the shadow really stays put. Nars shadows are high quality and highly pigmented, so the combo of both should work well for you.

The color "Ondine" ...I know it's a wierd name but it's a great color by Nars. If you see the example with this reply it does not do the color justice...looks brite purple...but that's not what it looks like in person...it's more of a smokey dark plum....

NARS does not test on animals, nor do they have any other parties, such as suppliers, conduct any animal testing on their behalf. NARS uses only the highest quality ingredients which have a proven safety record and are widely used in the cosmetics industry.

Question
How pink is Tulle?
I'm interested in the NARS Wicked Attraction set, and that set comes with the single eye shadow in the shade Tulle. On this page, it looks very pink, but in the picture for the Wicked Attraction set, it is much less pink. Which picture is more true to the actual color?

Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to tell by a picture. You have to have faith in reading the comments given to you by your Beauty Sisters. I bought this wonderful shade, and it has a lot of pigment, but it looks so lovely with a darker puple smudged in the crease. I wear mine like that and I also wear it with Sephora's creame Turqouise eyeliner. It looks so good as a new spring look!! I'm planning on buying Baby Girl next, it has a gold shimmery to it and should pump up my spring look, as well. Nars is sorta more expensive, but I think it's worth it with it's built in mirror. And don't forget those wonderful Lorac, Clinique, and other Sephora wonderful light lips to go with your look!!! Oh, Lorac and Smashbox has some wonderful blushes to boost your pinky spring look. I just bought the Stilla 2 light shades of dewy gloss and the fabulous Hearts with different colors for blush. It is the perfect blush for me, it has light pastel pink, a darker pink, and a purple thrown in. It goes on like silk, and if you put a primer on your face and some tinted foundation, like Laura Mercier, you will look like a model!!!

Ashes To Ashes or Ondine?
I am fair with peach/pink undertones and have med. green/brown hazel eyes. Which of these two shadows would compliment me, or should I consider another color? I appreciate any help-thanks!

If you've got yellow (warm) undertones to your skin and green/hazel eyes, then I'd say "Ondine" is the better choice since it too is a warmer-based color.

"Ashes" seems to look too muddy on us warm toned gals, whereas "Ondine" is the perfect plummy/taupey color and also has the benefit of the subtle gold-flecked shimmer.
