SEPHORA COLLECTION Complexion Extractor with Lance

The Sephora Complexion Extractor with Lance has a stainless steel lancet for piercing whiteheads and a ring for pressing out blackheads. To use: Prior to using the Complexion Extractor with Lance, steaming the face, or using a hot water compress is strongly recommended to help soften comedones. This will make them much easier to remove. When you're ready to begin the extraction process lay the looped side on top of the blackhead - basically encircling this area with the loop. Apply slow and even pressure lightly until the trapped sebum is forced out of the follicle. Do not continue to attempt the extraction if the trapped sebum is not released easily. Applying too much force can cause infection and scarring. When piercing a whitehead, wait until the whitehead breaks open, then gently roll the tool over the whitehead. Be sure to disinfect the area when finished and clean your tool off with alcohol or hot water.A deep, cystic pimple should not be opened with the lancet. When dealing with deep acne, it's best to visit a dermatologist. A doctor may use a sterile needle, but only after a pustule has formed. Additional treatments depend on the severity of the acne.

I just used an astrigent to avoid any bacteria reinfecting skin. Small amount of redness was gone within a few hours I would probably apply some Ice.

I don't know if you got an answer to this yet, but my girlfriend showed me how to use this thing many years ago when I was in high school. You only use the lance if your pimple needs to opened up a bit. You don't need to put too much pressure as it is very sharp and effective. If you have a white head, then you probably won't need to use the lance. Once you are ready to pop the pimple, then place the open part of the other end directly over the center of your pimple (or the head where the puss will come out). Press down somewhat firm and perfectly straight. Don't do it at an angle as it won't work. If your pimple doesn't come out fairly easy, then don't force it - it's just not ready yet. This tool is good to use because it prevents your pimple from becoming extra inflamed after popping and the oils from your skin won't get on your face.

I find that if I use the lance to open up the blackhead, then I have no problem with getting my blackheads out. It's actually very effective for me doing it that way.

Question
How do you use the lance?
How is the lance supposed to be "rolled over the whitehead"? I don't understand how you can roll a sharp tool over your skin without it piercing your skin and if you don't use any pressure the whitehead won't come out.

To "roll the tool over the whitehead" use the larger end of the hole end. Pretend it is a blackhead with the little end, but just kind of slide the larger end over the whitehead, once it has popped a bit from the hot compress (this step is really important). Hope this helps! I absolutely LOVE this tool!
